I have always loved Halloween even as an adult. But it’s even more fun now getting to decorate our home as a family. Discussing what costumes we want to make or buy. And the excitement of going trick-or-treating with my kids.

For the little ones who my find all the monster and ghouls a little terrifying these book are great to read with them.
Books from Sandra Boyton:
My kids love the board books from Sandra Boyton. The Pookie series is a favorite. So is But Not the Hippopotamus. These books are adorable and your little ones will love them!
Pookie has a tough decision to make, he has to choose a costume to wear for trick-or-treating. Your little ones will enjoy finding out which one he finally picks.

Pinkalicious has to find a way to save Halloween in this pinktasic story! My daughter loves reading the Pinkalicious books. She loves pink so she can relate to Pinkalicious. Also, she likes watching the cartoon on PBS kids.

Splat the Cat doesn’t have a cartoon series but we have other Splat the Cat books and its a character my kids like. When Splat goes to the pumpkin patch he’s determined to find the biggest pumpkin. The only problem is, how will he get it home?
Arthur is another favorite cartoon for my kids on PBS kids. Arthur is a little scared of Halloween. He finds it a little too spooky but he learns that there is nothing to fear on Halloween night.

I love reading Halloween themed books with my little ones to get them excited for Halloween. Not that they need any encouragement. Once they see the stores stocking the Halloween candy the countdown begins!
