Yay, it’s finally Spring! Days get longer, the sun stays out more and the weather is warmer. It’s time to get out of the house and enjoy some Springtime family activities.
After being stuck indoors for a few months everyone in the family is ready to spend more time outdoors. Here are a few ideas to get the family outside and enjoying the Spring season.
Springtime Family Activities
Check out the Cherry Blossoms
A beautiful sight of Spring is when the Cherry Blossoms are in full bloom. Take a walk with the kids and enjoy the beauty of the cherry blossoms.
Don’t forget to snap a picture while you’re near them, the cherry blossoms make for a pretty background!
Go for a Hike
Going for a hike after a long winter’s rest will help you and your family get out and exercise. If you’re lucky you’ll see some animals out and about from their winter slumber.
Another bonus is enjoying the beauty of the flowers and trees in bloom. If you have small ones consider putting them in a hiking carrier so you can enjoy a longer hike.
Have a picnic
Pack some food, find a patch of grass to lay a blanket down on and enjoy a meal outdoors. While you’re at it take off your shoes and socks and feel the grass between your toes. There is something about a picnic that slows life down and helps everyone relax.
Go on a bike ride
Instead of driving the car to the park, hop on your bikes. If your kids are too little to ride their own, get them a bike trailer or bike seat.
You can also find some bike trails near you that you all could enjoy. It’s also a perfect time to teach your little ones how to ride their bike.
Feed the ducks
Gather all the crusts you have saved up from the kids sandwiches and head off to a pond to feed the ducks. The ducks are heading back home from the
Go to an Easter Egg hunt
Easter egg hunts are so much fun for the kids and the memories will last for years. It’s so exciting for them to open the plastic eggs they have collected to see what surprises may await them.
Check out sites like Red Tricycle to find Easter egg hunts near you.
Find a petting zoo
Baby animals are so adorable. They’re fuzzy and tiny and
Plant a garden
What kid doesn’t like to get dirty? The kids will love playing in the dirt while helping you plant a garden. It’s exciting to know that they helped grow the veggies they’re eating or the flowers they’re smelling.
You don’t have to go big. You could get a couple of pots and plant a few flowers or herbs to put on a window sill or on your porch.
Go Fishing
Going fishing is another way to slow down and appreciate life. Get your kids their own fishing pole and help them with the bait.
Fishing is not my favorite past time but my spouse and kids enjoy it. So I play along. I let them fish while I read and enjoy time in the sun! Find a river or lake nearby and make a day out of it.
Spring Scavenger Hunt
Create a simple scavenger hunt list for your kids with a Springtime theme. Have your kids looks for things like cherry blossoms, daffodils, and ladybugs.
They will love the challenge of finding and checking off all the items listed. The prize for finding all those items could be a trip to the ice cream shop:)
Enjoy the Season
It’s hard to believe that it is already Spring. It seems like Christmas wasn’t that long ago. Days, weeks, and months fly by and before you know it another year has passed.
One way to attempt to slow down time is to get the most out of each season. These Springtime family activities will help to slow down the hustle of everyday life. We can’t stop time but we can make an effort to spend more time together as a family and make more memories.
