Create a cleaning schedule to save time and make your life easier. Break up your cleaning tasks and create a schedule.
I have been a stay at home mom for over six years and learned if I don’t make a schedule for myself, nothing will get done. Cleaning is not my favorite activity but it is one of those things you have to do.
At the beginning of this year, I signed up for the Work at Home School. One of the courses in the school is Clean Mama’s Homekeeping Society.
The Homekeeping Society is a monthly or annual membership. With this membership, you’ll receive a monthly printable schedule to help you keep your home clean and orderly.
Joining this membership was so helpful for creating a cleaning schedule. The schedule I receive each month is a good starting place for me to decide on what I need to focus on. It’s much easier doing 30 minutes of housework a day. Rather than picking one day a week to get it all done.
There are certain cleaning tasks that need to get done every day. Other cleaning tasks only need attention once a week.
Certain chores that need to get done every day
- Making beds
- Loading and unloading the dishwasher
- Wiping down counters
- Vacuuming
- Sweeping
- Picking up clutter
Weekly Cleaning Schedule
There are certain tasks that are only necessary once a week. Such as cleaning bathrooms, mopping floors and dusting. So I assign each of these tasks to a day of the week.
Monday is my kitchen cleaning day.
- Deep clean of the counters
- Clean stove top and quick wipe down of the oven door and range hood
- Scrub the kitchen sink and around it
- Clear the countertops of the coffee maker and other things and wipe the counter down in those areas
Tuesday is bathroom day.
- Clean the mirrors
- Wipe down the countertops
- Clean the toilet
- Scrub the tub and shower walls
Wednesday is mopping day.
- Kitchen floor
- Bathroom floor
- The entryway
Thursday is dusting day.
Friday is a rotating task day. These tasks are not necessary to do each week. Here are some examples:
- Clean the refrigerator
- Deep clean vacuum ( corners, under and around furniture)
- Clean the oven
- Clean windows

A Cleaning Schedule Helps with Productivity
My cleaning work week is Monday through Friday. Who wants to clean on the weekend, right! Having a schedule and knowing what I need to do helps me stay more productive. Creating a cleaning schedule makes the tasks go a lot quicker.
My goal for this year was to be more productive. Most of my days are a blur and it seems like nothing ever gets done. Things will get done if I stick to my cleaning schedule. I created an entry in my Bullet Journal to remember which tasks I want to accomplish on each day. This helps me to stay on schedule.
Do you have a cleaning schedule? Do you break up cleaning your home into daily tasks or do you prefer to get it all done at once? Let me know in the comments.
